Is O2 for you?

We all have them. Yes, I'm talking about friends in Direct Sales. We may not even realize it. From Avon calling, Tupperware lady, Mary Kay representative to Jamberry Nails, Scentsy, LuLaRoe, Perfectly Posh, and the list goes on and on. Some women do it as a full time job, some part time, some, just for the freebies. Have you ever liked a product and thought, wow, I could totally buy everything? Or how about, she looks like she's having so much fun and I would love to get to know some new people? There are many reasons why people join Direct Sales and many reasons why people stay away. My reason for joining Origami Owl was my daughter. She found out about the Owlette program and wanted to be a part of it. It was a good time for me too. I had quit my job in June, I was a stay at home mom, and I figured, I had nothing to lose. Coming from a Sales and Marketing background, I did the initial research of 1.) Do I have a market for my product? and 2.) Is my product something that provides value to my customers and something they would enjoy? The answer to both those questions was yes and in October, I made my initial investment (only $189). It's now May and I'm still selling with my daughter! We get so excited when there's a reveal. She wears her locket daily to school and I wear mine whenever I'm out and about. We have made some new friends and I get to still stay home and make some money. That's my story, everyone else's is different.

There's one story that touched my heart about a week or so ago. One of our designers from the company dramatically passed away in a car accident. She was young, early 30's. She left behind a fiance and 2 small children. Marcia Cota, Vice-President of Sales for Origami Owl, attended the funeral and wrote the following on Facebook:

"We always say that we change peoples lives – but never has that been more apparent to me than when faced with the death of someone whose life had been changed by O2. This past week, I attended the funeral of Senior Team Leader Kathleen Williams - along with many, many O2 Designers, Hostesses, and Customers. I have never seen more lockets, chains and charms in a church service smile emoticon It was obvious that Kathleen was loved by all – one of those people with an infectious... smile, a giving heart, and friendly spirit. Family was so important to her…and it was heartbreaking to see her two children in that front row. After the service, there was a butterfly release outside – and afterwards, many of the O2 Designers stayed outdoors - chatting. An older lady came up to us, in tears – and asked us if we were from Origami Owl. She then shared how Kathleen loved Origami Owl. How her face would light up whenever she talked about our lockets, her business, her travel adventures, and the company in general. She stated that she wanted us to know just how important Origami Owl was to Kathleen. I also had the opportunity to talk to Joe, her fiance. Joe said that Kathleen struggled to find her "fit" in this world. She was a nurturer…and tried to find that place in many “jobs” - that never quite felt right to her. She didn’t find her “niche” until she found Origami Owl – about 18 months ago. In meeting Heidi Pintar, and Tara Anne Pressler - and connecting with our Origami Owl family, in helping people share their stories with lockets, in building a team and being part of a bigger team, she found where she most belonged. He was so passionate in portraying just how much O2 had changed her life…in so many ways. I’ve always known we are a part of something so much bigger….but I’ve never felt more strongly about that than right now. There are so many people out there - like Kathleen - who are searching for their purpose. Is it O2? Maybe. But they will never know and you will never know until we take that first step and invite them either to hear more about or to be a part of our Origami Owl family."

That story touched me and made me see that I made a great choice in joining the Origami Owl family. I can be a mentor to my daughter, while still having the time and energy to focus on my home and family, and make some money to have a night out. You get what you put in and everyone runs their business however best it works for them. That is the beauty of owning your own business (and not having someone boss you around). So I ask? Is O2 for you? I am more than happy to share more of my experience as well as answer any questions you may have. After all, what do you have to lose?
